Multiple Tenured and Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, & Systems Engineering (IMSE) at
The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for multiple
tenure-track positions. Exceptionally qualified and more senior candidates
may also be considered for a tenured position.
The Positions
A number of outstanding faculty members in line with the University's
strategic hiring in the following focus areas at open rank are sought: (a)
engineering management and (b) complex systems modeling. These positions
will be in the College of Engineering with primary appointment in the IMSE
Department. Joint appointments in other departments are possible depending
on the qualifications of the candidate. The IMSE Department currently has an
endowed professorship that is available and can be awarded to a successful
candidate with commensurate qualifications. The position in complex systems
modeling will support work in research areas such as community resiliency,
security systems, healthcare, energy, and transportation. The position in
engineering management will support the growing masters of science
engineering management program with emphasis on quantitative methods.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate degree in industrial engineering, engineering
management, or a closely related field is required. Candidates must have
demonstrated a commitment to quality teaching and scholarly research.
Candidates for senior ranks are expected to have excellent records of
research, scholarship, extramural funding and demonstrated leadership.
The University, College and Department
The University of Texas at Arlington is a doctoral, research-extensive
university with a current enrollment of more than 37,000 students in
campus-based programs and is part of The University of Texas System. The
University is located in Arlington, Texas which is centrally located in the
Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, the fourth largest urban area in the nation.
The College of Engineering (COE) is home to 7 departments: 1)
Bioengineering; 2) Civil Engineering; 3) Computer Science and Engineering;
4) Electrical Engineering; 5) Industrial Manufacturing and Systems
Engineering; 6) Material Science and Engineering; and 7) Mechanical and
Aerospace Engineering. With more than 7,000 students with approximately 550
Doctoral students, the COE is the fourth largest in Texas and offers the
most comprehensive engineering degree programs in North Texas. It offers 10
baccalaureate, 14 masters, and 9 doctoral degree programs and has ties to
numerous high technology companies in the region. The College of
Engineering is enjoying extraordinary growth in graduate and undergraduate
student enrollment as well as growth in student graduation. This growth has
been concomitant with growth in research expenditure, collaboration,
innovation and entrepreneurship by faculty and students. The role of these
positions is to support our academic and research growth.
The IMSE Department (uta.edu/ie) has a full time faculty of 15 members with
expertise in manufacturing, operations research, engineering statistics,
systems engineering, engineering management, and human factors. It consists
of over 750 students and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial
Engineering, as well as M.S. degrees in Engineering Management and Systems
Engineering. The Department houses the Center on Stochastic Modeling,
Optimization, & Statistics, the Systems Engineering Research Center, and
RFID/Auto Identification Lab. The Department has joint efforts with the
University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute (UTARI).
