12th Annual IIE New Faculty Colloquium

Saturday, May 31, 2014, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Palais des Congrés, Montreal, Canada

Nominations Due from Department Chairs: March 21, 2014



The Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH) and the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) requests nominations for the 12th Annual New Faculty Colloquium to be held Saturday, May 31, 2014, prior to the IIE Annual Conference and Expo.



This all-day event is designed for new faculty, specifically junior faculty within their first three years on a tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment, to provide information that can be useful for successfully navigating the challenges of an academic career and gaining tenure and promotion. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and network with senior-level professors and peers. Topics tentatively scheduled for presentation include:



* Welcome from the IIE president-elect

* Tenure and promotion panel discussion with department chairs

* Perspectives of new faculty; lessons learned

* Tips for publishing success

* Funding opportunities and proposal development

* Tips on teaching and student learning activities

* Finding a teaching/research/family balance



Meals (continental breakfast, lunch, and reception) are provided during the program. There is a $50 fee per person for this event. All other expenses incurred (including registration for the Annual IIE Conference) are the responsibility of the nominee or the nominating department. Attendees must register separately for the IIE Annual Conference. More details on the event can be found at www.iienet.org/annual



All nominations must be made by department heads/chairs. Nomination materials include:

* A statement from the head/chair including the name of the nominee and their contact information; and

* A current curriculum vitae in an electronic format (MS Word or PDF).

Nominations must be received by Friday, March 21, 2014. Early nominations are encouraged since space is limited. Nominees will be notified (accept or reject) by the end of March to ensure enough time to make travel arrangements.
