7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Palais des Congrès de Montréal
Montréal, QC, Canada
Nominations Due from Department Chairs - March 14, 2014
The Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH) and the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) requests nominations for the 13th Annual IIE Doctoral Colloquium to be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 preceding the IIE Annual Conference and Expo in Montréal, Canada.
This all-day event is designed for doctoral candidates expecting to graduate by Spring of 2015. Panels of experts will lead discussions on various topics of interest, including the job search, life in academia and industry, the tenure process, teaching, research, and professional service. Students are required to present their dissertation research in a poster session. A panel will review the posters and award a best poster designation. All posters will remain on display during the conference on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Nominations must be made by department chairs. Departments should limit nominations to a maximum of three students, as space is limited to approximately 40 students and the colloquium usually fills to capacity. To nominate students, please send:
1. A statement from the chair indicating names of students, their Ph.D. advisors, their expected dates of graduation, and their email addresses (as part of an email message). Please indicate priority order for the nominations in case the Colloquium cannot accommodate all students.
2. One attached file (PDF or MS word) for each nominee with their current curriculum vitae and a brief description of their research topic (e.g., a 1-page dissertation abstract). Please use the following naming convention for files: 2/5-letter school name abbreviation_last name. For example: tamuq_parsaei.pdf. (You may select your own school abbreviation.)
3. An additional attached file for each nominee with the title and abstract for their poster. Please submit as a separate attachment with the naming convention: 2/5-letter school name abbreviation_last name_poster. For example: tamuq_parsaei_poster.doc.
Please email your nomination to Professor Gino Lim ginolim at uh.edu<mailto:ginolim at uh.edu> and cc Professor Ann Bisantz bisantz at buffalo.edu<mailto:bisantz at buffalo.edu> with the subject line "IIE Doctoral Colloquium Nomination."
Nominations must be received by Friday March 14, 2014, although early nominations are encouraged. Nominees will be notified (accept or reject) by Friday, March 28, 2014 to ensure enough time to make travel arrangements. Meals (continental breakfast, lunch, and reception) will be provided on Saturday, May 31, 2014. All other expenses incurred are to be covered by either the nominee or their department. Neither CIEADH nor IIE covers student travel or lodging expenses associated with the Colloquium or the IIE conference.
* Please note that, although the Doctoral Colloquium is open only to students registered for the IIE Annual Conference, acceptance of an invitation to attend the Colloquium does not grant entrance to the conference. Students must register separately for that event. More details concerning the IIE Annual Conference can be found at www.iienet.org/annual<http://www.iienet.org/annual>
