[Bgs-list] Questioning the existence of plantation mentality in college & pro sports?

Not discounting sports.
Like I said my sister was a D1 athlete.
All of my siblings and I played sports, all of my children played sports.
However, there are very few industries that depend to such a large extent
on a majority black labor force that generate the amount of money that
college and pro football and men's basketball do with such meager
representation in management (coaches, etc.) and ownership.
Did you listen to the podcast episode? Or are you just going off our prior
conversation?
The women on the podcast really dig into several examples: Univ of Texas,
Les Miles, Creighton basketball coach and Ole Miss.
Not just the programs and the coaches but the fans, too.
And yes, the entire system is problematic which is also a point I was
trying to make Friday.
For example, I work in IT.
IT is horrible in general for Black people, Latino people and women of all
races.
Friday we were talking about sports specifically.
Your argument seems like a "what about X" deflection rather than dealing
with the specific discussion of sports.
Are you saying because the entire system is unjust or broken that no
specific part of the system can be critiqued independent of system level
critique?
