*Philanthropy*

*Donation Drive for February: Greenville County Animal Care*


 *Attention Animal Lovers!* February is your chance to help the homeless
and in-need pets in our community. This month our donation drive is
benefitting Greenville County Animal Care. Greenville County Animal Care
takes in over 20,000 homeless and forgotten pets every year and is in need
of unopened dry/canned puppy, kitten, cat and dog food, kitty litter,
unopened dog/cat treats, blankets, sheets, hand towels and dog/cat toys.
Our donation box is located in the 6th floor student lounge and will be
there for the entire month of February.


 Please consider making a donation this month to help a pet not as lucky as
your own.  All donations will receive points towards the Clemson MBA
Student Association Outstanding Citizenship Award. Please email
Lesleyh at Clemson.edu with a description of the items donated to receive your
point credit!

*Mark Your Calendar! Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:*


 *Tomorrow: Saturday, February 22nd-*Trees Greenville is looking for
volunteers to help plant trees on the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail from
9am-11:30am. The event will take place between the intersection of West
Washington and Hampton Avenue. Please register using the link below and/or

Award!



*Heroes Jam: Saturday, March 15th. Support the Troops!*


 Looking for a fun event over Spring Break? Head to the Heroes Jam on
Saturday, March 15th from 10am-3 pm!  The Heroes Jam outside the Hyatt
Regency in Downtown Greenville is a showcase of up and coming Nashville
Connection stars. This event is free, but they will be collecting donations
to go towards supporting the troops.

Volunteers are also being sought to help with the organization's website.

All students attending or volunteering at this event will receive fifteen
points towards the Outstanding Citizenship Award.




*March of Dimes Cut-Out Campaign*


 To benefit the March of Dimes we will be selling cut-outs for $1. Please
come by the 6th floor student lounge on Wednesday, February 26th between
and 5-6 pm to purchase your cut-out.

One point towards the Outstanding Citizenship Award will be awarded for
each cut-out purchased.



*Junior Achievement:*


 Help upstate students develop the skills they need to succeed in a
competitive economy. The Junior Achievement of Upstate South Carolina is
looking for volunteers to teach young people from kindergarten through
12thgrade about entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial
literacy.
Volunteers are able to choose school location, grade level and time to
teach. Each grade has their own corresponding curriculum and some middle
and high school grades have the ability to choose a curriculum according to
the subject it would be presented in (social studies, economics, etc.)

Fifteen points towards the Outstanding Citizenship Award will be awarded
for each volunteer event attended with Junior Achievement.



*Clemson MBA Student Association Outstanding Citizenship Award*


 The Clemson MBA Outstanding Citizenship Award will be awarded to the
student who takes the most active role in philanthropy events this semester
and exemplifies the Clemson spirit of service to the community. The award
will be based on a points system for philanthropic activities completed
during the semester. In addition to being recognized with the Outstanding
Citizenship award the student who participates in the most philanthropy
events this semester will receive a $75 gift certificate to the Table 301
Restaurant Group.

The award will be based on the point system outlined below.


*Citizenship Points:*


 1 point=A student will receive one point for every item donated to that
month's donation drive. Please email Lesley Horton at
Lesleyh at Clemson.eduwith a brief description of the items donated to
receive credit for your
donation.


10 points=A student will receive ten points for attending a joint
social/philanthropy event. (example: The MBA Christmas party that
benefitted Toys for Tots). Please email Lesley Horton at
Lesleyh at Clemson.eduto confirm attendance.


15 points=A student will receive fifteen points for volunteering and
attending a philanthropy event listed in the weekly student association
newsletter. Please email Lesley Horton at Lesleyh at Clemson.edu to confirm
your attendance at these events.



Point totals will be published with the Student Association newsletter on
the last Friday of every month.  All part time and full time MBA students
are eligible to win the award. The current Clemson MBA Student Association
executive leadership team members are not eligible for consideration.



Park Heroes, our partner Trees Greenville needs volunteers to help plant
trees on the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail this Saturday from 9am - 11:30am.  See
below for more information.  The link to register online is at the end.
This is not an official Park Hero project; however, Trees Greenville is a
huge partner with us and has planted hundreds of trees with volunteers
along the trail and in County parks.

*MBA SA St. Patrick's Day Social*


Thursday, March 13th- Come out and celebrate St. Patrick's Day and support
a wonderful cause! Our Spring Social will be held at Chicora Alley the
evening of Thursday, March 13th. Please wear green and bring an item to
donate to Support the Troops-our March donation drive event.  For this
donation drive we are collecting toiletries/personal care items (like
deodorant, toothpaste/brush, razors, lip balm, etc) packaged snack goods
(ones that won't expire soon like candy, energy bars, nuts, trail mix,
cookies, etc) and blank greeting cards or stationary.


You will receive one point towards the Outstanding Citizenship Award for
each item donated!

*MBA-SA Professional Site Visit*

We have a tour of Grainger (GVDC 101 Southchase Blvd, Fountain Inn, SC
29644) set up for March 21 from 1 pm to 2 pm. This falls during Spring
Break so we want to make sure that enough students can attend. Please click

tour. We will attempt to reschedule for April if there is not adequate
