Networking Forum- February 21

We are very excited for our 6th Annual Clemson MBA Networking Forum on Friday, February 21st starting at 9am.  The companies that will be in attendance are listed below.  Please rank the top 5 companies that you would like face time with and send me your list by midnight TONIGHT, February 14.  I will be setting up 10 minute networking interviews with the companies that you choose.  This will be on a first come first serve basis so the sooner you get your list to me, the more likely it is that you will get to meet everyone on it. 1.       Professional Dress is Required

2.       Bring multiple copies of your resume (At least 10)

3.       Research the companies before your meetings

4.       Know what you are looking for in terms of job opportunities

5.       Be sure to get a business card from each employer so you can send a follow up and a thank you note

6.       Be yourself and have fun!
Many of our students have made great connections at our Networking Forum in the past, and this is going to be another great year.  Please know that this is not your typical career fair.  Here, you will be getting the important individual face time with each employer to make the connections that are vital to landing full time opportunities.  I hope that many of you are able to attend the makeup day for the Spring Career Fair on the main campus in a few weeks.  Both the Networking Forum and Career Fair will be extremely beneficial to expanding your network, meeting with a large number of organizations, and learning about great employment opportunities.

Who's Coming to the Career Fair?
The Michelin Career Center will be hosting their annual Career Fair on the Main Campus at LittleJohn Coliseum on February 25th.  This is a make up day since the event was canceled this week due to weather.

Social Networking Series- Lunch and Learn Workshops



Join Clemson University and EnVeritas Group at Greenville ONE for FREE lunchtime social media instructional sessions for professionals. Trained social media professionals will teach you how to boost your own social media presence in order to optimize your career opportunities, as well as how you can bring back techniques that can help you promote your company and increase your ability to achieve business objectives.

Leigh Fibers Internship
Summary of Scope
Leigh Fibers, Inc. (LFI) desires to conduct a comprehensive supply and demand study to assist in our understanding of the market dynamics in several of our business sectors.  The study will consist of compiling a list of all competitors in the business sector on the supply side, and all customers on the demand side.  The study will include an analysis of the advantages each supplier has in relation to each customer.  The study will include an analysis of possible alternatives customers may have to the base material supplied in the market sector studied.
Qualifications
•         The ideal candidate will have completed an undergraduate degree in business and be pursuing a graduate degree in business.
•         The ideal candidate will have proven competency in conducted detailed business research.
•         The ideal candidate will have proven competency in the preparation of written reports and presentations.
•         The ideal candidate will have proven proficiency in the use of pivot tables and presentation of complex data models.
Schedule
•         The initial project focused on one business segment will begin immediately.
•         The initial project is expected to be completed in approximately one semester.
•         Additional projects, based on quality of work output would follow initial assignment.
Compensation/Terms
•         The project will require the candidate to sign a confidentiality agreement and non-competition agreement.
•         The project will pay $12 per hour (no benefits).
•         LFI will pay reasonable expenses (pre-authorized).

A national service company, headquartered in Greenville, is seeking an intern that will be doing in-depth financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting and perhaps assisting with municipality work.
The candidate must have very strong excel skills.  This position will be working directly with the President of the company.  It will be high profile.

Greenville Chamber of Commerce- Marketing Intern

JOB TITLE: Intern: Membership Marketing Analysis
LOCATION: Greenville, SC
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt Temporary
SUPERVISOR: John Kimbrell, Executive Vice President
JOB PURPOSE: Provide the leadership of the Greenville Chamber with a proposal for an improved value proposition for our investors that will encourage engagement and future investment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.       Work with staff and leadership to understand and evaluate our current dues structure, sponsorship offerings, and return on investment for our members.

2.       Benchmark other membership organizations including other chambers of commerce and economic development organizations outside of our market to determine best practices in terms of membership benefit offerings, “value proposition”, and communication of the benefit at all levels of investment.

3.       Prepare a recommendation to leadership including evaluation of current offerings, membership levels, possible bundling of sponsorships, and overall return on investment based on internal and external research.

4.       Calculate potential fiscal impact on dues and sponsorship revenue by evaluating current v. proposed changes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s degree a minimum.
2. Prior exposure to membership based organizations
3. Prior experience in business to business communications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with partner organizations, members, internal Chamber staff, and volunteer leadership.
2. Competent computer skills to perform essential functions listed above.
3. Educational background in communications/marketing and finance/accounting or nonprofit  is desired.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



Ability to speak clearly, write or type moderately (at least 40 wpm), sit and stand for moderate periods of time.

Clemson MBA is entering its third year as a sponsor of Downtown Alive. Part of our promotional consideration as a sponsor is a video in one of the City of Greenville’s monthly newsletters. Donation Drive for February: Greenville County Animal Care

Attention Animal Lovers! February is your chance to help the homeless and in-need pets in our community. This month our donation drive is benefiting Greenville County Animal Care. Greenville County Animal Care takes in over 20,000 homeless and forgotten pets every year and is in need of unopened dry/canned puppy, kitten, cat and dog food, kitty litter, unopened dog/cat treats, blankets, sheets, hand towels and dog/cat toys. Our donation box is located in the 6th floor student lounge and will be there the entire month of February.

Please consider making a donation this month to help a pet not as lucky as your own.  All donations will receive points towards the Clemson MBA Student Association Outstanding Citizenship Award.
