Dear REU Director:
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Georgia Southern University
is pleased to announce its inaugural Eagle Undergraduate Mathematics
Conference (EUMC). The conference will be held on Saturday, March 6,
2010 on our campus in Statesboro, Georgia.

The conference will feature
* student talks
* an undergraduate team problem solving competition
* the MAA State Luncheon and Speaker
* T. A. Rush (graduate program information)

The conference will provide an excellent opportunity for
undergraduates enrolled in institutions in Georgia, South Carolina,
and northern Florida to interact with other students and faculty about
their experiences in mathematics. You are invited to bring your
students to the conference to give a talk, participate in the contest,
or listen to the talks.
Please pass the word on to your colleagues and students and your REU
participants (and please excuse cross-postings).
The invited luncheon speaker is Dr. David Sumner of the University of
South Carolina, the 2007 recipient of the MAA Southeastern Section's
Distinguished Teaching Award.

The conference is free for all undergraduate students; the
registration fee for faculty and other guests will be $15. Modest
travel support is available for undergraduate students from schools
that cannot provide support. Funding for the conference is provided by
Georgia Southern University and by MAA-NSF grant DMS-0536991 through
the MAA Regional Undergraduate Mathematics Conferences program.

Students are invited to give fifteen-minute talks. Any undergraduate
research presentation involving mathematics is welcomed. The student
competition will be conducted in teams of three, with problems chosen
from undergraduate mathematics subjects such as Calculus, Differential
Equations, Analysis, Linear Algebra, etc.  We can help students from
different schools join into at-large teams.

As part of the graduate program exhibition, you are also invited to
set up an information table for your graduate program at the
conference.

Preliminary information (registration and updates will come later) is
available online at http://math.georgiasouthern.edu/math/eumc/
