Thank you for devoting your time and energy to mentoring REU students!

I'm writing on behalf of the NSF IGERT National Recruitment Program, to ask
for your help in reaching REU students with information about IGERT funding
opportunities for graduate school. Please feel free to forward this
information and/or post it for students and colleagues.

As you know, the National Science Foundation funds IGERT PhD programs around
the country that offer interdisciplinary training in sciences, technology,
engineering and mathematics. IGERT trainees receive a state-of-the-art
education in their chosen field(s) as well as generous stipend and tuition
support. Please check our website: www.igert.org for details.

I hope you will take the time to mention IGERT to your REU students before
they leave this summer. NSF is very interested in increasing connections
among their funded programs, so we are working to strengthen the link
between REU and IGERT sites.

I'm taking the liberty of attaching two documents for your information. The
first is a one-page summary of IGERT opportunities. The other is a form for
students to fill out and mail or fax to our office if they're interested in
IGERT or other fellowship opportunities. Could you please print and post a
copy of these, or make copies available to your REU students while they're
on campus? We'd be very grateful.

Thank you so much for your help!

Wishing you a pleasant summer,

Sandy
