Professor Daniel Kosmas in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) is seeking highly motivated PhD students to join his research team. Two fully funded positions are available in large-scale and bilevel optimization for public sector problems. Topics broadly include network interdiction models for disrupting illicit trafficking networks, network models for mitigating drug shortages, and supply chain resiliency models for critical commodities.

The selected candidates will receive full tuition coverage, a stipend, and subsidized health insurance. Additionally, the student will be provided with a laptop computer and any supplementary resources necessary for the project.
Qualifications
Applicants are expected to have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field. A focus in operations research and optimization, with an interest in public sector problems, is desirable.
