Call for Nominations from Department Chairs Due Friday, February 16, 2024


The Council of Industrial & Systems Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH) and the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) request nominations for the 21st Annual IISE Doctoral Colloquium to be held Saturday, May 18 with a "3-Minute Thesis Pitch" competition to follow on Sunday, May 19.


This in-person event is designed for doctoral candidates expecting to graduate by Spring 2026. Panels of experts will lead discussions on various topics of interest, including job search, interviewing tips, choosing a career, life in industry, academia, and entrepreneurship, career-life balance, diversity in the workplace, and professional service. Students are required to give a short presentation of their dissertation research during a "3-Minute Thesis Pitch" competition on Sunday, May 19. The top presentations will receive prize money. Participants in the 3-Minute Thesis Pitch are required to attend the colloquium. Winners will be acknowledged at the CIEADH meeting on Monday, May 20.


Nominations must be made by department chairs. Departments should limit nominations to a maximum of three students, as space is limited and the colloquium usually fills to capacity.


Nominations must be received by Friday, February 16, 2024, although early nominations are encouraged. Nominees will be notified (accept or reject) by March 8, 2024.
