Dear Professor,

On behalf of the Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research at George Mason University, I invite student design teams in your department (undergraduate and master's level) to participate in the 7th Annual Andrew P. Sage Memorial Design Competition (SMDC-24). The conference will be held at our Fairfax campus and online on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

The Sage Competition is a student-focused forum for the design of complex systems and a leading showcase for undergraduate and graduate (master's) design projects. The important dates related to the 2024 conference are as follows:
              Paper Abstract Due                                     Feb. 23, 2024
              Registration & Fee Payment                      Mar. 22, 2024
              Final Paper Due                                            Apr. 15, 2024
              Day of Competition                                     Apr. 23, 2024

Abstracts should be 300-1000 words and concisely summarize the project. Please visit the conference website and the call for papers link for instructions for abstract submission. The abstract should be entered in plain text in the space provided. Please save the file attachment space for submission of the final paper on or before April 15. Enclosed please find the conference brochure and the invitation letter with more information. Please pass this invitation to other faculty member in charge of your senior Capstone Design courses. We hope your student teams can join us.

Dear Professor,

Hope your semester is going well.

The 6th Sage Conference in April 2023 was a great success. Over 250 students from 9 universities participated in the competition. Fifty (58) student teams presented their outstanding capstone project work in the competition. Ten (10) Best Papers and 9 Honorable Mentions were selected for prizes and recognitions.

We will continue to host the competition for Systems Engineering, Cyber Security, Operations Research and Data Analytics undergrad seniors and graduate students for their capstone projects in 2024. We are planning to conduct the conference in Fairfax, VA on Tuesday April 23, 2024. We will also provide access to join remotely for participants who cannot travel to our campus. More details about the conference will come in December but if you can communicate to your capstone program coordinators and students to save the date for the 7th Sage Memorial Design Competition (SMDC-24), that will be greatly appreciated.

We look forward to having your student teams joining us on Tuesday April 23, 2024.
