Associate Professor, Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, San
José State University
Academic Coordinator: On-Campus BSISDA Program

*For people who might be interested:*
I strongly encourage anyone who would like to work in a collegial,
cooperative, 21st-century department to apply to join our faculty. The
position is in the School of Information, but the community of faculty
researchers includes a wonderful group of colleagues in the departments of
Industrial and Systems Engineering, Psychology, Kinesiology, and Industrial
Design as well.
I can easily say that I feel supported by my chair, dean, and colleagues in
other departments/colleges. It has been a pleasure working here. Depending
on their research interests, etc., new faculty will have the opportunity to
save a lot of time by using some of our already-build research facilities
and have the opportunity to help shape others that are being built now.
The opening is at the assistant professor level. The application closes on
November 8th.
The department is a great fit for faculty who care about teaching,
research, and having an impact. SJSU has strong collaborations with NASA,
Silicon Valley industry, startups, local hospitals, and has a strong track
record of federal grants.
The SJSU School of Information has a hybrid work environment that offers
in-person and online opportunities for faculty, but this position includes
in-person teaching. The university is home to one of the oldest HF/E
programs on the West Coast, and the only HFES accredited MS program in the
San Francisco Bay Area / Silicon Valley. SJSU as an institution continually
tops the nation for upward mobility of our students and its impact on
Silicon Valley.
Responsibilities include teaching in-person, advising students, and
developing a research program.
