I am writing to share the news of the opening of our ISE Department Chair position at the University of Florida (UF). Attached please find the ad for the position, which has recently posted to the “Careers at UF” website (https://explore.jobs.ufl.edu/en-us/job/526074/chair-professor-industrial-systems-engineering-526074 ). The department is seeking an experienced leader and scholar to continue our trajectory of growth in the technical thrust areas of the department and lead the pursuit of new strategic research and academic program initiatives at the department and college levels.

The ISE Department at UF has experienced substantial growth over the past 5 years with 19 faculty hires in various methods and applications of ISE, including data analytics and operations research, healthcare and human-systems engineering, and supply chain and logistics systems. The faculty growth has led to an over 40% increase in undergraduate degrees and a 33% increase in the graduate student population. Related to this, our research program has grown to address a broad range of ISE problems and to support additional students with $6.34M in current active awards. Foundation support for student and faculty programs has also increased by ~50% for endowed and non-endowed funds.

The department chair is responsible for setting a vision, recruiting a diverse faculty and student population, facilitating faculty scholarly and professional growth, advancing department academic and research programs, seeking extensive and inclusive collaborations at UF and with other institutions and industry, and cultivating philanthropic support for the department. Outstanding candidates will be considered for any available endowed professorship at the time of an offer.
