IISE DATA ANALYTICS & INFORMATION SYSTEMS (DAIS) MOBILE/WEB APP COMPETITION

The Data Analytics and Information Systems (DAIS) Division of the Institute
of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) announces the IISE-DAIS
Mobile/Web App Competition to recognize creativity and excellence among its
members and motivate them to commercialize their research/learning outcomes
to accelerate the economic and societal benefits.


Scope of Mobile/Web App

Mobile/web apps that are based on any concept, principle, technique, or
application related to the field of industrial and systems engineering will
be accepted.


Eligibility of Participants

·       A team can have a maximum of five members (1~3 student members and
1~2 faculty advisors).

·       Student members can be undergraduate or graduate students from
higher education institutes in the field of Industrial & Systems
Engineering (or related fields).

·       Student members should be enrolled at the time of the submission of
the proposal.

·       At least one of the students must be a member of the IISE and DAIS.


Competition Process

·       *Proposal Submission:* Teams must submit a proposal (no more than 2
pages) describing their mobile/web app via email with the subject "DAIS
Mobile/Web App Competition" to the chair of the competition steering
committee by* Dec. 22, 2022*. The proposal must include 1) a list of team
members and their affiliations, 2) a list of features of the mobile/web
app, and 3) the target market segment(s) of the mobile/web app.

·       *Mobile/web app submission:* Teams must submit (a) a prototype of
their mobile/web app, (b) a software design document, and (c) a
demonstration video via email to the chairs of the competition steering
committee by *Feb. 21,* *2023*. The competition steering committee will
evaluate the submissions and select a maximum number of four teams as
finalists.

·       *Oral presentation:* The selected finalist teams will attend the
2023 IISE Annual Conference & Expo to present their mobile/web app. The
presentation will include (a) technical details of the mobile/web app, (b)
a business plan to justify the need for their mobile/web apps in the
marketplace, and (c) a demonstration of the prototype.


Evaluation Process

*Each team will be evaluated by the following criteria:*

·       Originality

·       Technical details of the mobile/web app

·       The business plan to justify the need for their mobile/web apps in
the marketplace

·       The demonstration of the prototype



Important Dates

*Dec. 22, 2022**: *Deadline for proposal submission

*Dec. 29, 2022: *Notices of proposal acceptance

*Feb. 21, 2023: *Deadline for submission of prototype mobile/web app and
documents

*April 1, 2023: *Notification to finalist teams

*May 20-23, 2023: *Oral presentations
