In an infectious disease forum, I noticed a posting for data scholars to
be hired at NIH. I wanted to let you know about it in case you wanted to
share in your department or with your graduates. All of the information
that I have is posted below.

NIAID seeks to appoint a DATA Scholar for two years with considerable
experience in AI and knowledge representation methods to design and test
a prototype knowledge graph to enable the use of AI for rapid
information discovery and management during a pandemic response. The
knowledge graph should include AI-ready information about a virus with
pandemic potential selected from one of 20 virus families. The DATA
Scholar will represent information from various public and NIAID
internal data resources (e.g., /ImmPort, BRCs, IEDP, GenBank, dbGaP,
AnVIL, PDB, UniProt, clinical and epidemiological data, published
literature) /into an AI-ready (FAIR) format/. /The aim of the project is
to explore the potential of AI for automating knowledge discovery for
pandemic preparedness and address the major challenge of rapidly
studying newly emerging pathogens during the acute phase of an outbreak.
The NIAID DATA Scholar will work together with colleagues in the NIAID
Office of Data Science and Emerging Technologies (ODSET) and the Office
of Cyber Infrastructure and Computational Biology (OCICB) under
supervision of the ODSET Director, Dr. Wilbert van Panhuis, MD, PhD
