We would appreciate your assistance in circulating the ad below (and
attached) in your department (for two tenure track positions). The areas of
expertise we are looking for are as follows: 1) healthcare systems
engineering/data science/personalized medicine and 2) advanced
manufacturing/automation and/or cyber-physical systems. However, candidates
with expertise in other areas will be considered.

These positions have a start date of Spring 2020 or Fall 2020. Interested

The Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering (SSIE) in the
Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton
University is expanding further and seeks two (2) Assistant Professors with
start dates in Spring or Fall 2020:

·       Assistant Professor – Healthcare Systems Engineering/Data
Science/Personalized Medicine

·       Assistant Professor – Advanced Manufacturing/Automation and/or
Cyber-Physical Systems

The Assistant Professor positions require advanced expertise in their
fields. One position is focused in the broad areas of health systems
engineering/operations
research, healthcare data science/analytics, population health, healthcare
information technology/systems, and personalized/precision medicine. The
other position requires hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing, with
special interest in areas such as contemporary additive manufacturing (3D
printing), advanced robotics or cobotics (collaborative robots),
intelligent/flexible production systems, green manufacturing, smart
manufacturing, the use of Internet of Things (IoT) to transform the future
of manufacturing, and advanced automation and cyber-physical systems.
Qualified applicants in other emerging areas of industrial and systems
engineering may be considered.



Assistant Professor positions involve: teaching at all levels
(undergraduate courses through advanced graduate courses); and establishing
externally funded theoretical and applied research in the respective
disciplines. The Healthcare Systems Engineering position seeks research
experience that complements the Binghamton University Transdisciplinary
Areas of Excellence (TAEs: http://www.binghamton.edu/tae/).



The ideal candidates must have (i) an earned doctorate in industrial
engineering or closely related engineering disciplines, (ii) excellent
leadership skills, and (iii) superb records of research, including
garnering funding and scholarly publications. Teaching experience is
preferred.



The department currently has twenty-three (23) faculty members and offers a
BS degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) and MS and PhD
Degrees in both Systems Science (SS) and Industrial and Systems Engineering
(or ISE). Attracting over $3M dollars in research funding per year, our
established faculty works collaboratively with over 30 sponsors from
industry and federal agencies. SSIE also offers a cutting-edge executive
health systems program in Manhattan. With about 220 undergraduate, 210
masters, and 180 doctoral students, the department is growing in numbers
