Texas State University is inviting applicants for the position of Professor and Director of the Ingram School of Engineering. The add is pasted below.
Texas State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Professor and Director of the Ingram School of Engineering.
The director is the chief executive of the Ingram School of Engineering and is responsible for the implementation of university, college, and school policies and for the development, coordination, and administration of all academic programs and activities within the school. Within the context of shared governance, the director identifies and articulates program aspirations, directions, standards and points of view to other groups inside and outside the university community.
The Ingram School of Engineering was founded in Fall 2007 and houses ABET-accredited undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering - Computer Engineering Concentration, Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering and an MS degree in engineering. Faculty in the Ingram School of Engineering have access to doctoral students via the Materials Science, Engineering and Commercialization Program. A civil engineering program has been proposed to begin Fall 2019 and is awaiting final state approval. The School has an enrollment of close to 1,000 undergraduates and 70 graduate students and is an academic unit within the College of Science and Engineering. The School is housed in Ingram Hall, a 167,000 square foot facility which opened in Fall 2018. It has additional space in the RF Mitte Building. We seek candidates who can provide innovative leadership for the Ingram School of Engineering to ensure its continued development, operation, expansion, and enhancement of its research, education, and service missions. Candidates should share our commitment to educational equity and the high-quality education of students from historically underserved and systemically marginalized communities. Individuals from historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
Required qualifications include the following: (1) an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a field of engineering or closely related field; and (2) a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate to the rank of professor based on university and school established standards.
Preferred qualifications include (1) administrative experience including experience with budgets, the tenure and promotion process, faculty and staff hiring, program development, and ABET or other accreditation/certification processes, (2) demonstrated commitment to or experience with gender, racial, ethnic, and demographically diverse groups; (3) outstanding leadership, organizational, and communication skills; (4) experience mentoring and supporting faculty scholarship; (5) experience obtaining and managing external funding such as government and industrial grants and contracts; (6) extensive record of publications, patents, and/or presentations; and (7) experience developing and sustaining university-industrial partnerships.
