Assistant Professor
Industrial Engineering
The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Industrial Engineering. This is full-time, benefited, 9-month tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 2019. Outstanding candidates will be considered for a 2-year appointment as the Endowed Pietz Professor of Industrial Engineering.
The successful applicant must have an earned doctorate in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field. Candidates with specialties in all areas of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management are encouraged to apply. The Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management graduate and undergraduate programs at South Dakota Mines have an established reputation for outstanding teaching and instruction. The new faculty member will be expected to excel at teaching undergraduate and graduate courses including online-distance courses. In addition, our department is focused on expanding graduate-level research. A successful candidate will be expected to initiate and sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program.

The Industrial Engineering Department has grown substantially over the past 10 years and currently serves approximately 150 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. The department offers an ABET accredited B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management and an M.S. degree in Engineering Management. The new faculty member will be instrumental in helping the department to develop additional graduate offerings including a Ph.D. degree program.
Established in 1885, the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology is a science and engineering research university located in Rapid City, South Dakota.
