Please note the opportunity below for you and your students to attend Student Days at ProMat in Chicago.  ProMat is a HUGE trade show at the McCormick Center and Student Days is an event that lets students see some of the exhibits in an organized way with commentary by a tour guide who works in the industry.  It's really a great opportunity and students I have taken have all reported that it is a terrific experience.  There are also travel grants available to offset a portion of the expenses with instructions provided below on applying.

Student Days at ProMat 2017


Date:               April 5-6, 2017
Start Time:     8:30 am on each day
Location:        ProMat 2017, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL

Student Days is an exclusive program for faculty and students in engineering, business, and technical schools, ranging from high school to university. Candidates are invited to apply for this experiential learning program about material handling, logistics and supply chain.

This program is sponsored by Material Handling Industry (MHI) with support from:

  *   College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE)
  *   MHI Career and Technical Education Program (CTE)
  *   Material Handling Education Foundation Inc. (MHEFI)
  *   Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA).

Selected students and faculty will have a unique opportunity to see the latest material handling, logistics and supply chain solutions in action. Participation in the activities from 8:30am - 4:00pm on Wednesday is mandatory for all participants. Thursday activities are optional,
but highly recommended.

Travel Grants
A limited number of travel grants are available to offset transportation and lodging costs for schools that are more than 50 miles from the event. Travel grants of $75/person will be offered on a first come, first serve basis for:

* University- Up to 9 students and one faculty member
* CTE- Up to 4 students and one faculty member

Additional students and faculty may be accepted to attend Student Days but will not be eligible for travel grants.

Travel grants will be paid directly to departments/schools within thirty days of the event to schools that have fulfilled the requirements of the Student Days Code of Conduct.


Code of Conduct
The success of this program depends upon professional conduct by all who participate. This code of conduct shall be adhered to at all times. Violations of the code of conduct will result in forfeiture of travel reimbursements for the participating school, and may disqualify schools from participation in future events. Specific expectations of students and faculty members who participate include:


  *   Participation is required for Classroom Day (Wednesday April 5, 2017 8:30am - 4:00pm) and highly encouraged for all others.
  *   All participants should wear business casual clothing (no jeans, shorts, or T-Shirts) and comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes on both days.
  *   No use of phones, headsets, earphones, tablets, or cameras at specified times.
  *   Must be courteous and respectful at all times.
  *   Faculty members must be present with students at all times.
