Attention Faculty & Academic Advisors:
As participants in the ergonomics process, you have been recognized as a leader in your field. We are reaching out to you today to invite you to attend the Applied Ergonomics Conference, March 27-30, and to encourage your students to attend with you. The conference is now in its 20th year and has grown to be one of the most prestigious and well-attended conferences in the field of ergonomics globally.
You and your students still have time to participate as poster presenters while evaluating the lectures and research presentations along with our notable exhibitors, who bring solutions and resources to help you and your students improve your knowledge of the field.
One of the best opportunities for faculty at the conference is the Ergo Cup® Competition. This competition brings dozens of companies to the exhibit hall with full-scale examples of their ergonomic improvements. Imagine being able to take your students through 30 different industrial environments over a couple of days, while learning about their products and the unique ergonomic solutions they have developed to manufacture them.
For students, the job opportunities and networking are priceless. In fact, if cost is a challenge for them, there are volunteer opportunities to cover their otherwise very low priced attendance fee. (And it never hurts that the student poster competition includes significant cash prizes!)
This year the Applied Ergonomics Conference will be offering a Six Sigma Green Belt for Process Improvement course, March 27-30, in conjunction with the conference. Classes will be held all day Monday and for half days Tuesday to Thursday. This introductory course in Six Sigma, will give you a thorough understanding of Six Sigma and its focus on eliminating defects through fundamental process knowledge. The course has been designed to cover all of the recognized Six Sigma green belt topics efficiently, and it includes the concepts and tools that provide immediate value when applied at all levels of an organization’s operations.
The course’s IISE instructors have had years of experience applying these methods to real processes ranging from manufacturing to healthcare to financial services to government. Topics covered in addition to DMAIIC and Six Sigma philosophy include basic statistics, statistical process control, process capability, financial implications and root cause analysis.
