*Reminder: Reusable Abstractions of Manufacturing Processes (RAMP) Competition*

Dear Colleagues,

Happy New Year and welcome back to the classrooms. In case you missed it in the end-of-term and holiday rush, we would like to remind you of the recently announced RAMP Challenge and invite you and your students to submit. RAMP stands for Reusable Abstractions of Manufacturing Processes. The challenge will encourage the development of manufacturing process models which can be reused for future projects. Students, faculties, researchers, and manufacturers may submit models of any manufacturing process demonstrating application of the ASTM E3012-16 for characterizing Unit Manufacturing Processes (UMP) for information sharing and sustainability assessment. The goal is for these standardized models to be reused, extended, and modified for many applications including simulation and optimization. We envision a collection of the resultant models can be composed into system-level analysis that will have the potential to become great resources to facilitate and speed up models development that will benefit the manufacturing community. To reach a wider audience, we are asking you help spread the news to those who may be interested.

Final judging of the competition will be held at the Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference (MSEC) in June 2017 in Los Angeles, CA.
