The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) invites applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor position in manufacturing to be filled by August 2018. Qualified candidate will also serve as the Director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Lean Systems (CAMLS) (http://camls.utsa.edu/) and will be provided laboratory space and equipment.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with strong emphasis in manufacturing. Applicants are sought in the areas of smart manufacturing including intelligent systems, artificial intelligence applications, and data analytics applications; digital manufacturing including 3D printing and additive manufacturing; cloud-based manufacturing; cyber security in manufacturing; and in broader sense of manufacturing including productivity, automation, economic impact, and industry engagement.

Expectations for this position include: (1) developing strong externally-funded and internationally recognized research programs; (2) creating a new vision for the Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Lean Systems; (3) supervising graduate students; (4) teaching graduate classes related to manufacturing and undergraduate classes in mechanical engineering; (5) working with others in transdisciplinary areas; (6) reaching out to industry and community to build partnerships.
