Dear Colleagues,
?
The Industrial & Systems Engineering Department at the University of Florida invites applications for a full time non-tenure track Lecturer. Applicants must have a Ph.D., preferably in Industrial & Systems Engineering or a related field. In addition, candidates with a background and experience in teaching, particularly in software applications of Industrial Engineering are sought. Knowledge of computer programming and information technology is highly preferred.
Duties and responsibilities include: Teaching, revising and developing the undergraduate and graduate master level Industrial and Systems Engineering courses; collect data and manage course contents for ABET accreditation purposes in conjunction with the Undergraduate Affairs Committee; in addition, there may be other service and teaching activities as directed by the department chair. Teaching assignments will be made according to background and experience and will be 4-6 course sections per year based on mutual agreements.
UF-ISE is on the cutting edge, and faculty in the department are actively working on research topics in Data Mining, Energy, Healthcare, Operations Research, Production Planning, Risk Management, Supply Chain Management, and Transportation. The University of Florida is distinct in that it has colleges in the following disciplines: medical, veterinary, dental, nursing, public health, and engineering all co-localized on the same, contiguous campus. Gainesville is located in the northern region of Florida, within 1-1.5 hours of each coast, and just 1.5-2 hours to Orlando and Tampa. It is a small to medium-sized city that has a low cost of living, excellent public and private schools, and southern hospitality. While Gainesville is widely recognized as the home of the Gators, it is quickly becoming known as a center for innovation and a place with a lifestyle that's comfortable for families, yet attractive for young professionals. In 2013 the financial website NerdWallet deemed Gainesville the #1 fastest growing city in the U.S. (http://www.eng.ufl.edu/careers/why-gainesville).
University of Florida counts among its greatest strengths - and a major component of its excellence - that it values broad diversity in its faculty, students, and staff and creates a robust, inclusive and welcoming climate for learning, research and other work. UF is committed to equal educational and employment opportunity and access and seeks individuals of all races, ethnicities, genders and other attributes who, among their many exceptional qualifications, have a record of including a broad diversity of individuals in work and learning activities. The selection process will be conducted in accord with the provisions of Florida's 'Government in the Sunshine' and Public Records Laws. Search committee meetings and interviews will be open to the public, and applications, resumes, and many other documents related to the search will be available for public inspection. The University of Florida is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Interested persons must apply through the UF Jobs website @ https://jobs.ufl.edu/ (job # 493638 at http://explore.jobs.ufl.edu/cw/en-us/job/493638/lecturer); you may also submit a letter of interest, detailed curriculum vitae, a teaching summary and long-term goals, and the names and email addresses of three or more references to lecturer_search at ise.ufl.edu. The review process will commence in October 2015 and the expected starting time is January or May 2016.
Best wishes,?
Yongpei
