Le Moyne College, a Jesuit coeducational institution of 2800 undergraduate
and 800 graduate students in Syracuse, New York, solicits applications for
a Professor of Practice in the Information Systems program beginning in
August 2016. A Professor of Practice should combine significant professional
accomplishment with an active interest in teaching graduate and
undergraduate students, connecting professional practice to the classroom, a
nd continued professional engagement. Professors of Practice are expected
to sustain currency and relevance through continued professional
experience, engagement, or interaction and scholarship related to their
professional background and experience. Professors of Practice are expected
to augment their experience with development and engagement activities
involving substantive scholarly activities in their fields of teaching or
by extensive practice engagement activities.
We are primarily interested in a colleague with teaching and research
interests in enterprise systems, systems design, cybersecurity, business
intelligence and/or human-computer interaction. Background or interest in
emerging and growing fields of study, including mobile applications, social
media, wearable computing, risk management and/or health or accounting
information systems, would be welcomed. A strong interest in undergraduate
and graduate teaching at a liberal arts institution is essential. The
*Professor
of Practice* will teach a 3-3 course load, will advise students, will
participate in college and school service activities, and will connect
students and the College to professional opportunities and external
organizations.
We seek applicants whose professional achievements and teaching interests c
omplement and advance the instructional needs of the Madden School of
Business’s curricula while also helping us remain connected to practice. At
least ten years’ experience as a technologist, academic, business analyst
or manager is required, with at least 5 years experience at a senior level.
An ability and willingness to facilitate students' exposure to practice is v
alued. Collegiate or professional teaching experience and a commitment to t
eaching excellence will be a competitive advantage in our evaluations. For a
Professor of Practice, a completed doctoral degree in a relevant field of st
udy may be helpful but is not required. Evidence of the ability to carry le
ssons and experience from professional practice to the classroom will be a d
istinguishing characteristic of successful applicants.
