ThemainresponsibilityoftheAcademicSpecialist facultypositionis 
highqualitystudent- centeredteaching, including
preparation,delivery,andassessment,primarilyat the 
undergraduatelevel.Theannual courseresponsibility is sixcourses.
TheAcademicSpecialist is 
alsogiventheopportunitytoparticipateindepartment,university,andprofessional 
service
activities aswell as tobeengagedinamodest level ofresearchactivities 
andtoteacha graduatecourse.TheAcademic
Specialist is encouragedtoinitiateandundertakeresearch 
andserviceactivities,including,butnot limitedtoadvising
undergraduateandgraduate students,student 
recruiting,e-learning,educational research,publications,andpresentations.

Theprimaryemphasis is onteaching undergraduate industrial 
engineeringcourses,suchas probabilityandstatistics,
quality assurance,operations 
research,manufacturingsystems,engineeringeconomyandcapstonedesign.PhDrequired
in Industrial Engineeringor 
acloselyrelatedfieldwithanundergraduatedegreeinIndustrial 
Engineeringpreferred.
