The Engineering Management Journal is a referred publication and is the official journal of the American Society for Engineering Management. The aim of this special issue on healthcare systems is to contribute to the existing body of knowledge and provide new insights/perspectives on the future implications of current research for engineering managers. Prospective authors are encouraged to employ a variety of methods in healthcare systems (including both physical and behavioral/mental healthcare) through theoretical and empirical research investigations. Papers sought should include research and practical descriptions related, but not limited, to topics regarding healthcare systems, such as:

·      Continuous improvement

·      Management and leadership

·      Operations

·      Process design/redesign

·      Quality/process improvement

·      Readmissions

·      Screening and early prevention

·      Technology development and implementation

·      Other related topics
