The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering
invites applications and nominations for the Carl R. and Mary T. Ice
Industrial Engineering Professorship.The successful candidate will be a
nationally prominent scholar who will lead funded research endeavors
that complement or extend the current strengths of the department, with
preference given to the areas of applied operations research and
logistics. __
Candidates for the position must have an earned doctorate in industrial
engineering, operations research, or a closely related field.The
successful candidate will have an excellent record in scholarship and
external funding, demonstrated commitment to teaching at the graduate
and undergraduate levels, and credentials to support appointment at the
rank of Full Professor.Salary will be commensurate with qualifications,
with additional benefits derived from the professorship endowment.
The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering has a
tradition of excellence in research and education.Research expenditures
exceeded two million in FY 2013 from diverse sources including NSF, U.S.
and Kansas Departments of Transportation, a Veterans Engineering
Resource Center, and private organizations.The department values and
supports interdisciplinary research, and the successful candidate will
have opportunities to collaborate with researchers at the Advanced
Manufacturing Institute, the University Transportation Center, the
Biosecurity Research Institute, the Center for Risk Management Education
and Research, and others.The Ice Professorship, coupled with the State
of Kansas University Engineering Initiative Act, represents a unique
strategic opportunity for both the department and the successful
candidate.__
