Faculty Positions in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Florida

As part of a college-wide effort to hire 30 new engineering faculty members, the Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) department at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for three faculty positions. The three positions are created as part of a college-wide strategic plan that emphasizes the areas of health, engineering a sustainable world, security, information technology and big data analytics.

Applications are sought at all ranks, although hires are expected to be at the Associate or Full Professor level. Successful candidates should have research interests in Operations Research (OR), broadly defined, or in its applications. The department is particularly interested in those applicants with research and teaching expertise in the area of stochastics, simulation, statistics, control, and/or game theory. The college values individuals who are committed to engaging in interdisciplinary collaborations.

Successful candidates should have demonstrated an ability or potential to produce high-quality research, to secure external funding, and to develop a distinguished publication record. The positions require a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related field.

The positions are aligned with three research thrusts that are highlighted below. Although familiarity with the research thrusts is desirable, candidates with no previous experience but methodological skills that would support research in these areas are also encouraged to apply. UF will facilitate the development of inter-disciplinary collaborations across campus within these thrusts areas.

The first position is aligned with the creation of a Food System Hub at UF. Researchers with interests in food security, humanitarian logistics, network routing/design problems under uncertainty, game theory, data analysis, or supply chain risk management are encouraged to apply. The second position is aligned with a thrust area in Biomedical and Life Sciences Informatics. We welcome applications from researchers with interests in medical informatics, OR techniques applied to big data problems arising in bioinformatics, computational epidemiology and infection disease, data mining, optimization/stochastic/simulation analysis techniques in healthcare, and clinical-oriented medical and consumer health informatics. The third position is aligned with a thrust area in Informatics Techniques and Technologies. Researchers with interests in probabilistic modeling, statistical analysis, and optimization in big data applications, machine learning, neural and novel approaches to computing, and data mining are encouraged to apply.

Applications, including a cover letter, current vita, one-page research-and-teaching statement, and the names of three references should be submitted online at https://jobs.ufl.edu. (requisition #: 0904345). Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled.

University of Florida counts among its greatest strengths - and a major component of its excellence - that it values broad diversity in its faculty, students, and staff and creates a robust, inclusive and welcoming climate for learning, research and other work. UF is committed to equal educational and employment opportunity and access and seeks individuals of all races, ethnicities, genders and other attributes who, among their many exceptional qualifications, have a record of including a broad diversity of individuals in work and learning activities. The University of Florida is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Sincerely,

Jean-Philippe P. Richard

Associate Professor
