The proposed "Handbook of Manufacturing Processes" is intended to provide a comprehensive collection of theoretical discussions and practical approaches for design and manufacturing. The handbook will be published by John Wiley and Sons, Inc. Volume I includes theoretical topics and practical aspects as related to net and near-net shape processes such as casting, machining and polymers operations. Volume II includes theoretical topics and practical aspects as related to net shape fabrication processes, namely additive manufacturing (AM) and direct digital manufacturing (DDM) processes. Volume II also includes Geometric Dimensioning and Toleranceing (GD&T) and Design for Produceability as part of an integrated approach to design and manufacturing. Other related topic(s) will also be considered. The goal is to provide a practitioner's handbooks by documenting and presenting real-life case studies in support of discussed theoretical background for the following selected subjects:
Material structure, properties and applications
* Nature of materials
* Mechanical and physical properties
* Property enhancing and heat treatment
* Bio-material structural properties and applications
Traditional Processes: casting, polymer and machining operations
* Casting Operations
* Machining Operations
* Polymers Operations
Direct Digital Manufacturing
* Photo-polymerization Processes
* Liquid-Based Processes
* Extrusion-Based Processes
* Powder-Based Processes
* Lamination Processes
* Laser-Based Processes
Practical Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
* Dimensional Analysis
* Fits and Limit Analysis
* Datum Analysis
* Geometrical Tolerances
* Surface Analysis
* Inspection Planning
DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURING (DFM)
