Position of Department Chair


Clemson University invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering. The Department has ten tenured/tenure-track faculty members, all actively involved in teaching, research, and service. A search is currently ongoing to fill two additional positions.  The Department has 250 undergraduate students, 60 on-campus master’s students, and 35 doctoral students, as well as 120 students enrolled in an online Master of Engineering program. The Department is home to two National Science Foundation centers, several statewide institutes, and the SmartState Center of Economic Excellence in Supply Chain Optimization and Logistics. Research expenditures last year were approximately $2.5M.


The Department seeks exceptional candidates with a strong record of scholarship and obtaining federal, state, and industrial funding; experience building, leading, and managing a significant research enterprise; a commitment to recruiting and mentoring a diverse faculty and staff; a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching; and a vision that will position the Department prominently on the national stage. A doctoral degree in industrial engineering or a related field is required.
