Invitation to Mini-Workshop on Aerospace Payload Quality for Academia

Auburn University and NASA are again hosting a one day educational and networking session on quality assurance for payloads developed by academia for space. This event is part of the Academy of Aerospace Quality (AAQ) project at Auburn University (Alice Smith and Jeff Smith, PIs) sponsored by NASA.

The workshop will take place on Thursday, March 22, 2012 as part of NASA's Quality Leadership Forum (QLF). The location for the workshop is the Radisson Resort in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The program includes speakers from NASA and NASA sponsored universities and industries and tutorial on dealing with noise factors to develop robust processes and products. There may be an optional event at Kennedy Space Center and AAQ attendees can also attend additional QLF sessions for no charge. These events follow just after ASQ's Annual Conference on Quality in the Space and Defense Industries and are at the same location, offering potential synergies for attendees. The ASQ conference link is:

The target audience includes engineering academics who are interested in learning more about working with NASA especially in the area of payload experiment development. Students are welcome to attend with a participating faculty member. We are also seeking a few more speakers to discuss their current or recent past experiences with developing payloads, balloons or satellites for space.

No registration fee is charged and we have a limited amount of travel stipends available for selected participants.

Please apply using the link below if you are interested in attending with your name, affiliation and title, and a brief statement on why you would like to attend. Also state whether you wish to be considered for a travel stipend. Applications should be made by February 14 for full consideration and attendees being awarded travel stipends will be notified by February 24.
