[Iefac.list] Winners of the Sixth Lean Student Paper Competition sponsored by J T. and Carol S. Black

IIE Lean Division is pleased to announce the winners of the sixth Lean
Student Paper Competition sponsored by J T. and Carol S. Black. The
competition recognizes outstanding papers in the field of lean research and
practices.

 

First Place goes to Bu-Yuan Zhang, Dept. of Industrial Engineering and
Enterprise Information, Tunghai University, Taiwan, R.O.C for his paper
titled "Enhancing the service efficiency of non-profit organizations through
lean thinking and VSM analysis: A case study of assistive device resource
centers".

 

Second Place is awarded to Mohammad Moshref-Javadi, Department of Industrial
and Systems Engineering, Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, USA for his
paper titled "A queuing theory approach to compare job shop and lean work
cell considering transportations".

 

Third Place is awarded to Ibaad Sadiq, Department of Industrial and Systems
Engineering, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick,
Piscataway, NJ, USA for his paper titled "A lean approach to improving the
ARC Computer Labs". 

 

Awards will be given at the annual Honors & Awards Banquet during IIE Annual
Conference in Orlando, Florida, May 19 - 23, 2012. The first place winner
will be included in the IIE Annual Award list. Winning papers will be
presented at the Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference
(ISERC), 2012.
