Dear colleagues,
The Operations Research Division of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) is sponsoring the Operations Research Track at the 2012 Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference (ISERC), formerly the Industrial Engineering Research Conference (IERC). The ISERC, which is part of the IIE Annual Conference and Expo, is the premier forum for exchanging knowledge and discoveries in the industrial and systems engineering research community.
As track chairs of the Operations Research Track, we would like to encourage you to contribute to the conference by submitting an abstract. Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to present their work in ISERC sessions. Each session consists of three or four presenters and is 75 minutes in duration. Contributions may be either methodological or applied in nature, but should serve to advance the state-of-the-art in industrial and systems engineering and its intersection with operations research. Abstracts are welcomed in all major areas of operations research including (but not limited to):
Approximate Dynamic Programming
Data Driven Models and Tools
Dynamic Programming
Heuristic Procedures
Integer Programming
Markov Decision Processes
Multi-Objective/Multi-Criteria Optimization
Nonlinear programming
Optimization under Uncertainty
Queueing Theory and Applications
Scheduling Theory and Applications
Stochastic Modeling and Analysis
Stochastic Programming
All presenters are encouraged to submit a full-length paper for consideration of publication in the conference proceedings. The papers should contain results that are significant and have archival value to the industrial and systems engineering research community; however, the papers are limited in scope and length as compared to a full-length journal paper. Conference papers have a 10-page limit and will undergo a rigorous, double-blind peer review process. Papers of exceptional quality will be considered for the OR Track Best Paper Award. All accepted papers are indexed by ProQuest. Presentations without a paper are acceptable, but will not be indexed in the conference proceedings.
The important deadlines for the conference are:
Abstract submissions: November 11, 2011
Notification: December 9, 2011
Submission of full papers (optional but encouraged): January 13, 2012
Notification of paper acceptance: February 24, 2012
Final version of full paper due: March 9, 2012
Presenting author registration deadline: April 1, 2012
If your abstract or paper is accepted: (a) you or a co-author must register for the conference by April 1, 2012 (presentations/papers without an author registered for the conference will be withdrawn from the program and the proceedings); (b) you or a co-author must attend and present the paper at the conference; and (c) we ask that you be ready to serve as a reviewer for fellow authors and follow review deadlines.
There are also opportunities to organize invited sessions, panels, or tutorials. In addition to research presentations, the annual conference offers many opportunities for attendees, including the Applied Solutions Conference program, plant tours, networking, and keynote speakers.
We look forward to seeing you in Orlando!
Regards,
Sarah Root and Burak Eksioglu
Operations Research Track Chairs
