Sponsored by the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education
(CICMHE) and hosted by the Auburn University Department of Industrial &
Systems Engineering.

 

Call for Participation

 

The College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE) is
pleased to announce that the 2011 Material Handling Teachers Institute
(MHTI) will be held July 31-August 5, 2011 in Auburn, Alabama at Auburn
University.

 

Through the generous funding provided by the Material Handling Industry
of America (MHIA), the on-site expenses of all attendees will be paid
including:

 

* hotel*

* meals

* on-site transportation

* all sponsored tours

* social events

 

(*Room paid if room is shared with another participant, otherwise half
of room is paid. Attendees are required to pay their own airfare and
transportation to the hotel, as well as the expenses of a spouse or any
accompanying guests.)

 

Tours include Hyundai Motor Manufacturing in Montgomery, AL (2.3 million
sq.ft. facility and home of the Sonata) and a tour of the distribution
facilities of Jo-Ann Stores (700k sq.ft.).  Many social activities are
also planned for the afternoons/evenings so you have a chance to spend
time getting to know your fellow attendees as well as the professors and
industry representatives that will serve as your instructors.

 

Designed for faculty of all levels of experience who are directly
involved in the teaching of material handling, facilities
design/layout/logistics, operations, and supply chain courses, MHTI
promotes better teaching of material handling and facilities logistics
courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels by providing:

 

- A wide range of industry and academic presentations

- Plant and lab tours

- Social activities

- Opportunity to interact with their colleagues and share course
designs, teaching methods, case studies, textbooks, software, and more

 

Application Process

 

Attendance is limited - APPLY NOW by emailing the application

1. Name, School/University and when you started, address, phone, fax,
E-Mail.

2. Degrees received, when and where.

3. Teaching experience, if any, related to materials handling,
facilities design/layout/logistics, operations, supply chain (should
include course titles).

4. The next or first time you are scheduled to teach a course with
materials handling, facilities design/layout/logistics, operations,
supply chain (should include course title), the text you expect to use
(if known), and a description of the course as it appears in the school
catalog.

5. What you hope to achieve while attending the event.

 

Review of applications will begin at the end of March.  Invitations to
attend will be sent beginning in early April.  Applications will
continue to be accepted until all available slots are filled.
