Nominations are requested for the 2011 Wellington Award, which is given
annually by IIE in recognition of significant contributions to the field
of engineering economy. The award is named after Arthur M. Wellington, a
19th century engineer who wrote one of the first books on the application
of economic principles to an engineering problem, The Economic Theory of
Railroad Location (1887).

Nominations are accepted for individuals and institutions. A selection
panel will evaluate qualifications of the candidates for the award. The
criteria used in the evaluation include original contributions and service
to the profession. The award will be presented in May at the IIE Annual
Conference & Expo and Expo 2011 in Reno, Nev.

To nominate a candidate, send a letter of nomination, with supporting
information, to Professor Richard H. Bernhard, Edward P. Fitts Department
of Industrial & Systems Engineering, North Carolina State University,
Campus Box 7906, Raleigh, NC 27695-7906 or by e-mail to bernhar at ncsu.edu.

The deadline for nominations is March 4, 2011.

The 2010 Wellington Award was presented at the IIE Annual Conference &
Expo 2010 to Donald G. Newnan, emeritus professor at San Jose State
University, author of Engineering Economic Analysis and donor for the ASEE
National Engineering Economy Teaching Excellence Award.
