Industrial Engineering Department
The Industrial Engineering Department (http://ie.sdsmt.edu<http://ie.sdsmt.edu/>) at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level starting August 2010. Duties of the successful candidate include:
* Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses
* Conducting research that is supportive of the university's mission
* Mentoring and supervising students, both at the undergraduate and graduate level
* Serving on committees and participating in professional and industry activities
* Working in a collaborative environment
Candidates with specialties in any Industrial Engineering concentration are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in Industrial Engineering or a related field by the time of appointment. The Industrial Engineering Department houses two degrees, a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management and an M.S. in Technology Management. It is a growing department with approximately 100 undergraduate students and 40 graduate students. The School of Mines is a public state university offering baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees in science and engineering with approximately 2,200 traditional and non-traditional learners representing 40 states and 34 countries. The university is located at the foot of the beautiful Black Hills in Rapid City, South Dakota's second largest city. Twenty-five miles from Mount Rushmore, Rapid City has a relatively mild climate and the Black Hills offer exceptional quality of life and numerous opportunities for summer and winter outdoor experiences.
