		WINTER SIMULATION CONFERENCE 2009

		PHD COLLOQUIUM & POSTER SESSION

Sponsored by the ACM-SIGSIM and INFORMS-Sim

Sunday, December 13, 2009
Submission Deadline: September 14, 2009

The Ph.D. Colloquium & Poster Session at WSC'09 is an exciting opportunity
for Ph.D. students to present their work to the public.

Professor Alexander Verbraeck, Delft University of Technology and University
of Maryland, will start the afternoon off with a discussion over lunch.
Students close to graduation (planning to graduate by Dec. 2010) will be
given an opportunity to showcase their work during a short presentation
session. All Colloquium students will then participate in the Poster
Session.

Both ACM-SIGSIM and INFORMS-Sim provide a complimentary one-year membership
for all students participating in the colloquium.

For students close to graduation participating in both the presentation
session, and the poster session, ACM-SIGSIM and INFORMS-Sim will reimburse
their conference registration fee, and their lunch at the Ph.D. Moreover,
ACM-SIGSIM and INFORMS-Sim will each award a Best Ph.D. Student Paper prize
among those final year students making a presentation at the Ph.D.
Colloquium.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Posters: All colloquium submissions should include a brief (150-word
maximum) description of the research to be presented in the Poster Session
along with the names of your co-authors. A full-paper submission is not
needed for participating at the colloquium. Submit your application online
at www.wintersim.org (when you submit, select "Ph.D. Colloquium" as the
track). Further guidelines on preparing your poster are at
www.wintersim.org.

Presentations: Final year students who wish to take part in the presentation
session should have their thesis advisor send an email confirmation of the
expected graduation date to the Colloquium Chair (before September 14,
2009).

BEST PHD STUDENT PAPER AWARDS
INFORMS-Sim and ACM-SIGSIM award two Best Student Paper prizes among
students close to graduation, and participating in the Ph.D. colloquium at
WSC 2009. There will be two winners, and each award includes a sum of $200.
To qualify, your full paper must be accepted or invited for presentation in
any of the regular conference sessions, and you must be the presenting
author. Co-authorship is allowed, but the student must be the primary
co-author (first author). Additionally, you must participate in both the
presentation session, and the poster session. See www.wintersim.org for more
details.
