The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico at
Mayagüez invites applications for tenure-track positions. The five-year
undergraduate program has about 590 students and the graduate program about
40. The IE Faculty conducts research in quality engineering,  applied
statistics, experimental design, operations research, neural networks,
simulation, manufacturing systems, human factors, automated manufacturing,
cost modeling, production systems, and service systems.
Positions require a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or closely related field
at the time of appointment. The responsibilities include carrying out
research, teaching, committee assignments and other service
responsibilities. Applicants must show potential for performing quality
research and teaching, and be interested in teaching a variety of industrial
engineering courses. 
 
Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth within the USA and our faculty is eligible for
applying for grants from federal agencies such as NSF, NIH, DoD, and so on.
The IE Faculty has a tradition of attracting funds from local industry and
federal agencies.

Candidates should have good interpersonal skills and good communication
skills in English (working knowledge of Spanish is highly desirable).
