Job Description:
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To develop, organize and orchestrate fundraising events that attract individuals and businesses in support of Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC Inc. (GIUMSC) and the Goodwill Foundation.
To encourage and promote mutual associate/customer/client relationships which enhance the success of GIUMSC toward achieving its mission and goals.
To represent GIUMSC in a professional manner to reflect values and standards of its mission and goals.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To develop, plan and orchestrate fundraising events that enhance both the brand image and financial health of GIUMSC and the Goodwill Foundation.
2. To help identify prospective financial donors to GIUMSC and the Goodwill Foundation, whenever possible through these events.
3. Through special fundraising events, to actively enhance GIUMSC and the Goodwill Foundation's presence in the 16-county service area.
4. To develop and manage new fundraising events with the goal of having one major event each quarter in our 16-county operating area that includes both the Upstate and Midlands of South Carolina.
5. To help plan and execute more intimate events to attract smaller audiences on a regular schedule to enhance other development activities.
6. To produce quantitative and measureable results of all events on a periodic basis.
7. To utilize the GIUMSC donor database to help build strong relationships for GIUMSC and the Goodwill Foundation.
8. To represent GIUMSC in community and professional organizations to build support for Goodwill's mission.
Education: Bachelors Degree with emphasis in Business, Sales, Marketing, Communications or a related area.
Work Experience: Non-profit event management experience a must. A minimum of five years experience in the field of sales, business development and/or business management would also be helpful. Prior work experience of developing relationships with business and community leaders in our area of operations is a plus.
Qualifications: Must be able to travel through the 16-county service area of GIUMSC on a regular basis using personal and corporate transportation. Must also be a self-starter and be able to work independently once objectives are established. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills to initiate, cultivate and maintain relationships with community and businesses leaders. Must have strong logistics and planning skills and have a commitment to achieving results and attaining goals. Should be detail-oriented and possess excellent organizational skills to best manage a variety of on-going projects.
