[cid:image004.png at 01CC9941.BADE5A40]Jim Micali was the chairman and president of Michelin North America from 1996 until his retirement in August 2008.

Mr. Micali received his legal degree from Boston College Law School in 1973.  After practicing law with Higgins, Cavanagh & Cooney in Providence, R.I., he joined Michelin in 1977 and held a number of positions in the legal department, including two assignments in France, through 1985.  He received the Order of Merit from the French Government. He was named general counsel and secretary for Michelin North America in 1985, and became executive vice president of the North American legal and finance functions in 1990.  He was named a member of the Michelin Group Executive Council in 2001 and served as the rubber industry chairman of the board of the Rubber Manufacturers Association for a one-year term

He currently serves on the board of directors of Sonoco, SCANA, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, and American Tire Distributors, Inc.  He served on the board of directors of Lafarge North America from 2004 to 2006, and also is an Advisory Board member of Humphrey Enterprises. In 2004, the Richard W. Riley Institute of Government, Politics and Public Leadership at Furman University named Micali a distinguished senior fellow in political economy and leadership management.
