Good morning,

The Growler Station is opening their doors to us this Thursday afternoon for an informal discussion about entrepreneurship with their owner Craig Palvish.

Full Details:
Thursday, July 25

The Growler Station
109 Augusta St, Greenville, SC 29601 (about a block south of Mellow Mushroom)

Discussion: 4:00-5:30 pm
Tasting room open: 5:30-7:30 pm
RSVP by responding to this email as soon as possible. Capacity is 25.

Craig will be discussing his business experience, including ongoing and existing entrepreneurial experiences including:

  1. Pavco Inc., a third generation family manufacturing business that has seen further success with each passing generation. The current generation has dealt with rapid expansion globally as it continues to deal with the reality of our global economy. This includes sales, marketing and research efforts, manufacturing considerations and financial restraints/issues.
  2. Nexgen Chemistries, A wholly owned subsidiary of Pavco Inc that was originally created to protect a domestic business base as manufacturing leaves the US. The intent was to capture our core competencies of R&D, manufacturing and distribution of chemicals and target the stable/growing retail/consumer base. In over ten years we have had the experience of entering a market completely foreign to our core competence (commercial vs consumer) and navigating through success and failure with constant modifications to our business model. This includes building a national brand, servicing private label needs, brokering outside products and creating a consulting arm.
  3. The Growler Station, a brand new concept entered into with a partner group out of the North East revolving around innovative technology and the emerging prominence of craft beer across the country. This project is a multi dimensional program that includes commercial and consumer based business efforts. With a entirely new business free of our “shared” assets (such as Pavco & Nexgen), TGS teaches lessons in owning retail environments from success expectations to daily management to cash flow realities. It also highlights how one aspect of the concept relates to another aspect; i.e. how the stores relate to the equipment side and vice versa. TGS also is a great example of trying to wrangle a concept ripe with opportunity but making decisions to focus efforts to ensure success.

Please come to the event prepared to ask questions!

Immediately following the event, the Growler Station will be open for their weekly tasting event.
