Importance: High
Dear Students,
I know that many of you were on Spring Break when I sent the email below about our new Clemson MBA Community Mentors program. If anyone was at the Clemson Baseball game last Thursday at Fluor Field, you probably saw our introductory piece on the big screen. We are very excited to be partnering with The Drive to help with United Ministries and will be showing promotional videos and highlighting our students at many of The Drive games this season. On Thursday, a representative from The Drive will be here, along with the Executive Director of United Ministries to talk about the partnership and how you can be involved. We will be meeting in Classroom 1A at 5pm and will provide a light dinner.
Please RSVP to me by Wednesday to let me know if you will be in attendance. We are very excited to kick off this great program!
All the best,
Jamie Patterson

Dear Students,
We are very excited to tell you about a new partnership that the Clemson MBA has developed with the Greenville Drive! Our partnership with The Drive will give us the opportunity to showcase you, our MBA Students, and all of the wonderful things that you are doing in the community. Through this partnership, we have been connected to United Ministries (www.united-ministries.org<http://www.united-ministries.org>). United Ministries is an amazing organization that provides life changing opportunities and advocacy for people in our community who lack education or employment skills. Two specific programs that sparked our interest to get involved are: GED prep education and tutoring to their students as well as career counseling to help them land a better job once they pass the GED. We, along with Dr. Pickett, went to visit the organization yesterday and cannot put into words how inspiring their work is. The most amazing aspect was seeing the hallways lined with pictures of their graduates. It was beyond touching to see the looks of pride and accomplishment on their faces. It is impossible to go there and not want to get involved.
We are excited to launch the "Clemson MBA Community Mentors" program, where you will have to opportunity to volunteer to work with United Ministries to be a mentor to their students. Keith Trout, their Executive Director, told us that success stories always come because of the relationships that their students build with their mentors. Some just need that extra boost of confidence and support that they might not be getting from home. Can you even imagine how rewarding this program will be, not only for the GED students, but also for you?
We would like to invite you to an information session on Thursday, March 29th from 5-5:45pm in Classroom 1A where Mr. Trout will talk more in depth about their organization and the work that they do. He will also talk about opportunities and ways for you to get involved. We can tell you that they will be very flexible with your schedules because they understand that many of you are working and going to school. Please RSVP to Jamie Patterson (jpatte4 at clemson.edu<mailto:jpatte4 at clemson.edu>) if you plan on attending the information session or if you have any questions. After our visit yesterday, we both can't wait to get involved!
We will see you on the 29th!
Sincerely,
Jamie and Paul
