New Online Electives for Summer
The following three courses will be offered ONLINE this summer and can count as electives towards your MBA Program. Because the PADM courses (PADM 822, Section 400 and PADM 878, Section 400) are not coded as MBA, you will need to add your name to the PADM request log for the course and their department will add you in. You will be able to add yourself into the MBA coded course (MBA 899, Section 402).
MBA 899-Section 402: Taxation of Business Decisions
Taxation of Business Decisions 3(3,0) Discusses the importance of taxation in business decision making.
Emphasizes the interrelationship of taxes, the choice of business form, and various business transactions; exposes students to the breadth of business decisions which are affected by the Federal income tax. The course is designed for non-accounting students with little or no background in tax.
PADM 822 section 400 - Public Policy Process
Public Policy Process - The policy process consists of several major models of policymaking that frame how ideas become adopted legislation. Students examine how the theory stems from real life examples and learn to evaluate policy effectiveness.
PADM 878 section 400 - Regional Economic Development
Regional Economic Development - This class is based on literature developed in the recent past on issues of sustainability and resilience in the highly disruptive environment of today's knowledge-based economy. Students read the seminal journal articles that deal with spillover effects and externalities from public good that change the incentives for the location of industrial production. A core issue examined is the nature of the American federalist system where the cost of the provision of public goods is mostly born by individual states, but their benefits are diffused regionally, nationally, and in some cases globally. The policies examined focus on the issues of inter and intra state competition, when such a competition surpasses a socially optimal level, and the tools public administrators use to mitigate the effects.
Study Abroad Option for Fall 2013
MBA 899 - International Business Law will be offered this fall. Students will travel to London, Paris and Brussels during Fall Break. Please check out the link to the program webpage for additional information or contact Professor Judson Jahn at judsonj at clemson.edu<mailto:judsonj at clemson.edu> http://people.clemson.edu/~judsonj/fallbreak.html
