The projects are funded by QUEST (www.quest-itn.org), a 15-partner European Training Network in Waveform Tomography coordinated by Munich Seismology and VERCE (verce.eu), an e-infrastructure project in seismology. We expect experience and strong interest in programming and high-performance computing in connection with seismic wave propagation and inverse problems. Applications from computational science (software engineering, parallel computing) are welcome.  Research will focus on the adaptation of simulation codes to many-core systems, and the development of a platform with HPC applications in earthquake seismology. The Department has a powerful Linux-cluster and access to local and international supercomputing facilities (www.lrz-muenchen.de). Applications are accepted until positions are filled.
