The 21st INFORMS Workshop on Data Mining and Decision Analytics

October 31, 2026, San Francisco, CA

Organized by the INFORMS Data Mining Society (DMS)

The Data Mining Society of INFORMS is organizing the 21st INFORMS Workshop on Data Mining and Decision Analytics (DMDA) on October 31, 2026, the day before the 2026 INFORMS Annual Meeting. You are cordially invited to attend the workshop and present your recent research on data mining, decision analytics, and artificial intelligence. To participate in the workshop, a full paper must be submitted by the deadline of August 1, 2026, for consideration. All accepted papers are automatically considered for the DMDA Workshop Best Paper Competition, either in the Theoretical Track or Applied Research Track, according to the presenters’ specifications. The winner and runners-up will be announced at the DMS business meeting and recommended for fast-track submission to the INFORMS Journal on Data Science (IJDS).

Paper Submission Guidelines:
* Required paper format: Maximum of 10 pages total, including abstract, tables, figures, references, appendices, and any other materials. Papers must use 1-inch margins, 11-point font or higher, single column, single-spaced formatting, and include a 50-word abstract. Papers exceeding the 10-page limit will be automatically disqualified from the competitions.

* Submissions must be submitted on time to be considered for review.
* The award nominee (lead author) must be a member of the Data Mining Society at the time of the 2026 INFORMS Annual Meeting.
* Submitted papers should be neither published nor accepted for publication elsewhere at the time of submission.
* An author may only serve as the lead author on at most one submission for each competition track. There is no limit to the number of submissions on which an author may serve as a non-lead coauthor.
* Previous finalists of either track of the DMDA Workshop Best Paper Competition who wish to compete this year must submit new work that is clearly distinct from any previously recognized finalist submissions.
* Papers selected as finalists in either competition track may not simultaneously serve as finalists in other competitions at the 2026 INFORMS Annual Meeting, including those organized within DMS. If such a conflict arises, please inform the workshop co-chairs (contact information is provided at the end of this document).
* Finalists in either track will be recommended for fast-track submission to the INFORMS Journal on Data Science (IJDS). Details will be provided to the finalists.
* Copyright: The DMDA workshop will not retain the copyright of submitted papers; therefore, the authors are free to submit their papers to other outlets. Please keep in mind, however, that fast-track submission to IJDS will be made available to finalists.

Evaluation:
All paper submissions will be evaluated by external referees using a double-blind process. Four finalists for each track will be selected by an external review valuation. The winners of each track will be determined based on the external review evaluation and the oral presentation at the 2026 DMDA Workshop.

Submission Guidelines:
Prospective authors should prepare the following files:
* A file of the blinded version of the paper in PDF format.
* A file of the unblinded version of the paper in PDF format.
Please upload all files and complete the submission form(s) before the deadline of August 1, 2026, 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Timeline:
* August 1: Paper submission deadline
* September 7: Announcement of competition finalists
* October 17: Registration deadline for the 21st INFORMS Workshop on Data Mining and Decision Analytics
