Dear PhD Students and Postdocs,
Are you curious about a future in academia—either as a faculty member or in another impactful role within higher education?
We’re excited to invite you to apply for the Emerging Engineering Educators (EMEE) workshop — a sponsored, 4-day immersive experience designed to support engineering graduate students and postdocs who are within ~2 years of completing their PhD (or have recently completed it). This workshop is ideal for those who are actively pursuing a faculty career or are seriously exploring if academia is the right fit.
What You’ll Gain:
· Explore what it takes to launch a career as an academic.
· Build a network of like-minded peers focused on building the next generation of engineering leaders and educators.
· Gain tools and insights related to the entrepreneurial mindset to help you stand out as an academic job candidate.
· Year-long virtual engagement following the workshop.
When: Three summer 2026 sessions: June 8 - 11, 2026 (Nashville, TN), July 7 - 10, 2026 (Boise, ID), July 20 - 23, 2026 (Chicago, IL)
Where: In-person (location provided upon acceptance)
Cost: Travel, lodging, and most meals sponsored by the Kern Family Foundation (more details available in the application). Spots are limited, so early applications are encouraged!
