Assistant Professor in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York

The Position:
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at the University at Buffalo (UB) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank in human factors engineering, starting in August 2025. The successful applicant will have a strong record of research in physical ergonomics, wearable work technologies, and automated/personalized ergonomic solutions. The successful candidate will develop and maintain an active research program in occupational safety and health, teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in university and professional service.

The Department:
UB ISE is consistently ranked among the top 25 ISE graduate programs in the U.S. We offer B.S., M.S., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees, with concentrations in operations research, human factors, production systems, and engineering management. We are known for our strong focus on graduate research and education, having 21 tenured or tenure-track faculty, 4 teaching faculty, approximately 100 undergraduate majors, 275 master's students, and 50 doctoral students. ISE scholars engage in collaborations with colleagues from diverse academic disciplines, participate in numerous cross-disciplinary research centers, and maintain relationships with industry partners, e.g., through the Center for Industrial Effectiveness, Collaborative Institute for Multisource Information Fusion, CUBRC, Center for Computational Research (CCR), the Stephen Still Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics (ISTL), and the Institute for Research and Education in Energy, Environment, and Water (RENEW).

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a doctorate in industrial engineering, systems engineering, or a closely related field. PhD must be conferred before the appointment.
