IISE- Quality Control & Reliability Engineering (QCRE)  Division Teaching
Award Announcement

The division now invites nominations for the Teaching Award. This teaching
award recognizes individual faculty for sustained performance of excellence
in teaching QCRE-related courses. The award will be presented at the IISE
Annual Conference & Expo 2024.

Important Dates

Nomination deadline: February 5, 2024

Winner notification: March 5, 2024

Eligibility criteria

   - The candidate must be a member of IISE and the QCRE division.
   - The candidate should be nominated for the instruction of an
   undergraduate or a graduate course in quality, statistics, data
   science/analytics, and reliability methods or applications. The course must
   be offered as part of an academic program in engineering or management
   (i.e., Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management,
   Civil Engineering, and Management Science, among others). Examples of
   course titles for the nomination may include *Quality Control*, *Engineering
   Statistics*, *Engineering Computation*, *Reliability Engineering*,
   *Simulations*, *Production Systems*, and *Decision Analysis*.
   - The candidate must have developed course materials for which they are
   being recognized.
   - If selected for the award, the candidate should be able to attend the
   IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2024, which is held in Montreal, Québec,
   Canada.
   - We welcome nominations from around the globe! Course materials and
   nomination documents must be in English.

Nomination package

Nominations may be made by a faculty colleague or a student who has taken
the course from the candidate. The nomination package must consist of the
following:

   - Table of contents (up to 2 pages).
   - Letters of support from the nominator and two other individuals (up to
   2 pages for each letter). At least one of the three letters must be from a
   faculty member and one from a student.
   - A course syllabus and samples of course materials (up to 20 pages).
   - At least two, and up to four, recent teaching evaluations for the
   course being recognized (official evaluation documents containing
   unabridged student comments).
   - Teaching vitae of the candidate (up to 2 pages).
   - A reflective statement by the individual being nominated (1 page).

Nomination submission

Please email the entire nomination package as ONE PDF document to the award
committee chairs by February 5, 2024.

The winner will be notified by March 5, 2024.

The award will be presented at the IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2024.

Award selection process

IISE/QCRE Board of Directors will form an award selection committee to
review the applications. The following criteria will be used by the judges
in evaluating the applications submitted.

   - Leadership: Solid demonstration of leading excellence in teaching QCRE
   concepts. This criterion will consider educational publications and
   outreach efforts (e.g., textbooks, community-targeted educational,
   teaching, and mentoring initiatives related to QCRE concepts).
   - Design and Content Quality: The appropriateness/relevance of the
   course content to educating the target audience on up-to-date QCRE concepts
   (this criterion will consider whether the candidate includes recent QCRE
   concepts in their syllabus).
   - Applied Learning: The development and use of materials/case
   studies/scenarios/projects to motivate students in the QCRE concepts and
   empower students to apply/implement the QCRE concepts throughout the course
   (this criterion will consider the design of assignments, course projects,
   and the case studies covered in the course).
   - Innovation: Use innovative approaches to teach the principles and
   practices of QCRE.
   - Student Satisfaction: Demonstration of the value of teaching QCRE
   concepts to the department (program), students, and community (this
   criterion will consider the course evaluations and student statements about
   the course).
