PhD and Post-Doc Positions in Engineering or Computer Science at University of Idaho
POST-DOC POSITIONS DESCRIPTION
Position Overview: The Post-Doctoral Researcher will be responsible for managing the lab and will play an integral role in achieving the vision of RSML. Duties will include working with a team of graduate students, professors, and industry leaders to coordinate our efforts as we expand RSML on an engineering scale, build cyber-physical systems across food-energy-water systems, and develop a private cloud computing network to be shared across the State of Idaho. Job duties:
Lab Management: 1) Playing an integral role in achieving the vision of RSML, 2) Developing cyber-physical systems, 3) Coordinating schedules for the lab, students, and other events.
Leading Research: 1) Working with a team of graduate students, professors, and industry leaders to coordinate our efforts as we expand RSML on an engineering scale and develop cloud computing solutions in various food-energy-water systems; 2) Pursuing additional funding opportunities.
Working with RSML Team: Completing other duties as required.
Supervising Students: 1) Assisting and mentoring graduate students in the major areas of study. 2) Assisting faculty with student instruction.
Required Experience: Responsible and contribute to: 1) Web-based platform development, and 2) AI/ML, cloud computing, and visualization techniques development for the platform.
Additional Preferred:
* Background and interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence disciplines,
* Software packages: Python, HTML, Java, CSS, and JavaScript,
* Ability to work independently and in a team, and strong communication skills,
* Publish peer-reviewed conference proceedings and archival journal articles, and
* Contribute to grant proposal developments.
PhD POSITIONS DESCRIPTION
The graduate student will be responsible and contribute to:
1) Web-based platform development, and
2) AI/ML, cloud computing, and visualization techniques development for the platform.
Preferred Skills:
• Background and interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence disciplines,
• Software packages: Python, HTML, and Java,
• Ability to work independently and in a team, and strong communication skills,
• Publish peer-reviewed conference proceedings and archival journal articles, and
• Contribute to grant proposal developments.
Duration and Support:
• The appointment is for 4 years, contingent upon satisfactory performance after 12 months in the degree program and research performance.
• The hourly pay rate is approximately $21 per hour for 20 hour per week.
• This position covers tuition/fees and is eligible for health benefits.
