Dear Colleagues:
UF is seeking applicants for an Instructional Assistant Professor position in ISE. The current job posting can be found at: https://explore.jobs.ufl.edu/en-us/job/527256/instructional-assistant-associate-professor . The position is for a 12-month appointment with a distribution of responsibilities including 75% instruction, 20% research and 5% service. The position addresses both undergraduate and graduate instruction as well as engineering education-related research. The line is one of six current instructional faculty positions in the department and is critical to ensuring the quality of instruction in our required undergraduate ISE courses as well as the competitiveness of graduate degree and certificate programs.
For this new hire, the department is placing an emphasis on data analytics and simulation modeling for production, supply chain and logistics systems. Specific teaching assignments are made based on faculty interests and expertise relative to department needs. Instructional faculty typically teach 2-3 sections per term, including assignments in fall, spring and/or summer terms.
UF ISE currently enrolls 433 undergraduate students and ~220 graduate students with ~80% being masters students. The undergraduate program is ABET accredited and accredited by SACSCOC along with the graduate programs. The department currently has 23 faculty with 17 tenure-stream members teaching and conducting research in data analytics, human systems engineering, optimization, simulation, and stochastic analysis.
The search committee will begin reviewing applications immediately and potential starting timeframes include August 2023 or January 2024, depending on candidate availability. If you have in interest in this position or any questions on the department, please contact the committee co-chairs Serdar Kirli (kirli at ise.ufl.edu<mailto:kirli at ise.ufl.edu> ) or Jorge Sefair (jorge.sefair at ise.ufl.edu<mailto:jorge.sefair at ise.ufl.edu> ). Please also share this announcement with any colleagues who you think might have interest in joining the ISE journey at Florida.
Best regards,
Dave Kaber
